(WITHIN PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY)
Level 2 Award in Door Supervision
SIA Approved Qualification – Door Supervisor
Historically the most popular SIA license held is the Door Supervisor. This is because as well as being able to work in pubs and nightclubs, it also allows you to undertake all the activities covered by an SIA Security license.
Additionally, the Door Supervisor Training Course covers working in Event Security (e.g., at the large music festivals that run throughout the summer months). This means that one SIA license enables you to work in three sectors of the industry, so maximizing your job opportunities and a return on the investment in the training course.
To obtain the SIA Door Supervisor license you will need to pass a license-linked qualification called the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision. This will involve attending a 44–52-hour course and passing three exams. You will also need to provide suitable identification and pass a criminality check.
When taking the Door Supervisor Course with the Door Supervisor Training Organization there are significant overlaps with Security Guarding so you will be well prepared should you choose to work in that sector.
This course consists of 7-days in total, including the first aid training on the very first day.
Next 6-days: : training under the supervision of an experienced Trainer, including exams and physical intervention training.
How is the Door Supervisor course assessed?
The Level 2 Award in Door Supervision is assessed by three straightforward multiple-choice exams.
Most of our candidates pass at their first attempt, but there is no limit to the number of times you can resist the exams. UK City Academy offers free re-sits.
Applying for the SIA Door Supervisor license
On receipt of your exam results, which should generally be available within ten working days of completing the course, you can send in your application form to the SIA (if you have passed the exams). We will always give help and guidance with completing it.
Broadly speaking you should allow about four to six weeks for the SIA to process your application, although this can be considerably increased if there are any problems with it. Delays are often caused by:
not completing the form correctly
sending insufficient/incorrect identification
criminality issues
payment not being made by your bank
You can track how your application is proceeding by going to the Application Status checker on the SIA Website by visiting this link: http://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/licensing-status-checker.aspx
Note: Kindly note that course fee payment is payable at UK City Academy, while SIA License fee can be only paid to SIA.
